DC made the playoffs for the 2nd straight season and beat New Orleans in the first round 3 games to 1. Washington then lost a great series to namshub and his World Series champion Syracuse team 2 games to 3.

Bobby Nelson won his 2nd gold glove at shortstop. Nelson won on the merits of 4 total errors in 120 games for a .992 fielding % and 7 plus plays without a negative one.

Felipe Solano, Sammy Henriquez, and Yamid Encarnacion were 2009 all star reserves for the National League
