Retirements -
Matthew Cox is the most prominent player out of the 21 retirements from the 42's system. Cox converted every single one of his 49 save opportunities in the last 3 seasons in the high minors.
Arbitration -
Hades Gibson is the lone arbitration case for the 42's this season. Gibson is asking for 920K in arbitration or 8.4 million dollars spread over 3 seasons. Gibson will most likely get his money in arbitration as the 42's would like to not alienate their star reliever and keep him from bolting for free agency when the time comes. Along with Sudden
Sam Morris Gibson will be the only Washington players making more than the Major League minimum.
Free Agency -
Bernard Hammond played 2.5 productive seasons for the 42's but the franchise has elected to let him pursue free agency in order to keep costs down, effectively replacing him with
Hideo Martin. Hammond is seeking a 3 year contract worth 19.5 million. The 11th pick overall in season 2, Hammond should help out a team needing a third basemen.
Yamamoto has been with the 42's since schuyler101 took over GM duties midway through season 4 and has been the team's most productive pitcher for the last 7 seasons. Yamamoto has been very consistent with a 1.43 career WHIP, ranging from 1.3 to 1.51 on a per season basis. Yamamoto's career record of 28-53 belies his ability, as he has been a severe hard luck pitcher, getting poor run support from the bad NY Homeless teams and then also getting poor run support from the subsequent excellent Washington DC 42's teams. Shigetoshi is seeking 6 million over 2 seasons and will be missed.
